The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) helps older Australians access entry level support services to live independently and safely at home.

If you are struggling with everyday tasks and feel a little bit of support could improve your health and well-being, CHSP could be right for you. CHSP works with you to maintain your independence rather than doing things for you.

To be eligible for CHSP you must be aged:

  • 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), or
  • 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), on a low income and homeless, or at risk of being homeless.

An Aged Care Assessment will determine your eligibility for CHSP, including specific services you need.

To request an assessment, you can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.

You can access the following CHSP services with halo:

  • Personal Care
  • House cleaning
  • Food services
  • Gardening and home maintenance
  • Social Support – either individually or as a group at our John Green Centre in Armadale
  • Centre Based Respite
  • In-Home Respite to give your carer a break
  • Transport to appointments and to access your community

You are expected to contribute to the cost of your care if you can afford to.
