In 1992, Southern Districts Support Association (SDSA) was established by a small group of Christian people, to help address the drastic need for respite and specialist transport needs for the elderly and those with disabilities in the Southeast Metro area.

SDSA’s aim was to provide a range of services that provide basic support to seniors and people with disabilities and their carers, so they can remain living independently in their homes and the community.

In 1996, SDSA received its first round of government funding to provide Home and Community Care (HACC) services.

In 2005, we built our social community centre – the John Green Centre – which has become a thriving hub of activity with a variety of group programs offered to people on aged care and disability programs as well as on a private basis.

In 2016, we commenced providing services through the Home Care Packages program and we now provide support to 170 clients.

The following year, in 2017, our successful tender granted us the opportunity to offer community services to our ex-service personnel through the Veterans Home Care Program.

In 2023, we were successful with another tender, enabling us to provide volunteer visiting services under the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. Our ‘Bespoke Befriending’ service aims to provide friendship and companionship to older people and help develop their social connections.

We are now able to offer the following Government funded services:

  • Home Care Packages
  • Commonwealth Home Support Program
  • Veterans Home Care
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme.

For more than 30 years we have been caring for our community and in 2023 our rebranding to halo gave us a fresh, new look.
